Draper Baronet Projection Screen Review

Get your Baronet screen from TheNerds.net today.

The Baronet screen from Draper can be described by just one word: easy. This has to be one of the easiest electric projector screens to install, it’s compact and there is absolutely no need for an electrician, how easy is that?

The Baronet comes in an attractive white case, has a three position controller which is in-line in the power lead and the end caps double as universal mounting brackets which enable you to mount the screen on a wall, suspend it from hooks in the ceiling or if you are going after an out-of-the-way look the whole thing can be recessed in the ceiling. So if you are looking for a screen that can be put just about anywhere and is a cinch to install then the Baronet is a great place to start.

If your ceiling is unusually high or you want to mount it high on a wall you can get the Baronet with extra drop, this is extra ‘material’ that is inserted above the screens viewing surface so that the image you are looking at is at a comfortable level. This extra drop can be either white or black to suite your situation and can be up to eight foot in overall height.

The Baronet is available in a great range of Draper sizes and formats:

Draper Baronet Electrol Projection Screen

  • 1:1 / AV Format from 50˝ x 50˝ to 96˝ x 96˝
  • 4:3 / NTSC Format from 6´ to 10´ diagonal
  • 16:9 / HDTV Format from 65˝ to 106˝ diagonal
  • 16:10 Format from 67˝ to 109˝ diagonal
  • 1.85:1 / WideScreen Format in 99˝ or 108˝ diagonal

Screen Surfaces

Once you have decided which format is appropriate for where you are installing the screen and the predominant type of media you are going to be projecting, the next choice is which screen surface is going to work best in your environment and yield you the best image and the most flexibility in terms of seating. The Baronet comes in the following Draper surfaces:

  • Matt White
  • Glass Beaded
  • High Contrast Grey

To provide a greater explanation on what each of these screen surfaces is good for, here is some more detail:

Matt White — Diffuses projected light in all directions, so image can be seen from any angle. Has accurate color rendition and superior clarity. Requires control of ambient light in the audience area. Washable, flame and mildew resistant.

Glass Beaded — Spherical glass beads embedded in surface provide brighter on-axis viewing than Matt White, within a narrower viewing cone. Glass Beaded surfaces have some loss of clarity and perform best with table-mounted projectors. Flame and mildew resistant. Cannot be cleaned. Seamless in standard sizes through 10´ high.

High Contrast Grey — Grey surface offers excellent resolution while enhancing blacks, even as whites and lighter colors are maintained. Performs well in ambient light. Lower gain of 0.8 allows use with even the brightest projectors. Seamless in sizes up to 8´ in height.

Options

Options include the extra drop, which we have already mentioned, along with black masking borders, these borders help improve the apparent contrast of the image and are optional on the AV format screens whereas they come standard on all the other formats.

What are SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates, and what do they mean to you?

These certificates are issued by a number of institutions, such as VeriSign, Equifax & GoDaddy, and they provide a secure connection between your computer and the computer that is running the checkout you are using. They verify the identity of the remote computer to you, so you know that the site you are using is who they say they are, and proves they are a trusted retailer and not someone trying to steal your credit card details. And it provides your identity to the remote computer, so they know you are not someone trying to hack into their checkout. Then as the data is being sent back and forth over the internet, the SSL certificate encrypts the data, so that no one can “listen in” to the data packets and pinch your credit card details.

All in all it provides you with the necessary peace of mind to purchase online, by ensuring everything is as it appears to be.
